Taking baby in the sun and pool? We are going on vacation to Hilton Head in August and my son will be 4 months old. Is that to early to take a baby in the sun and to the pool? When did everyone take their children to the pool/beach? I bought one of those rashguards, the sun hats and we have the sundome. We wont have him in the sun for long periods of time but we have him in the sun for short periods of time.
Keeping my baby in a Sun hat? How do I keep her hat on her? I have the one that has a chin strap, but she pulls and jerks until she pulls it off. She never minded her toboggan or anything. We are outside quite a bit (baseball season) and I don't want her face/head burnt.
Can I put Sun Screen lotion on a new born baby? Baby has just been born few days ago! And I have not got myself a good stroller yet. I do how ever have a baby carrier. But its so hot out and I don't want the sun to hit in the babies skin. Could I put baby sun tan lotion on him? And put on a hat after?
How old does a baby have to be to be in the sun? I want to take my baby who is 3 weeks old next week to an outing at a park. If I keep her in the shade do you think it is ok? How old should she be to be in the sun with sunscreen, hat, and light clothing that will cover her skin?
How much would you pay for baby clothes? I am having a yard sale soon and trying to price TONS of baby clothes...everything is in amazing condition. How much would you pay at a yard sale? (things such as socks, onsies, pants, sleepers, sun hats)
help- i'm having a summer baby!!? ok so this may sound strange but my first son was born in Decemeber so it was pretty easy to dress him and keep him warm etc. When summer came he was sitting up etc so i was less worried and he was weaned too. My second son is due 15th May and i am a bit worried if its going to be a hot summer. (in the UK) What kind of clothes will baby need? Can he just be in a vest/baby gro? Sun hats etc? Sunshades for the pram? If i carry him in a baby carrier/sling thingy will he need to be covered etc all the time? How do you keep them cool etc? Can they have a bit of cooled boiled water from newborn or not? What about milk? Will baby still want to drink warm milk when its hot? Also im planning a trip to the seaside, is that a good idea with a newborn? I just am a bit worried really. Any advice would be good. (mum to 2 year old & 32w5days pregnant)
The best place to buy sun hat for my 6-month old? I am looking for a sun hat for my 6-month old baby. Cannot find anything in Target. Do you know a good store or an online retailer? Thanks.
What kind of sunscreen do you use for your baby's head? I've been putting coppertone babies on her all over. However, when I put it on her head, it makes her hair all greasy and unwashed looking. She does wear a big sun hat(with spf), but I want her protected all over. Does any one else have this problem? Or what kind of sunscreen do you use?

How long is too long in the sun for six month old? We are taking our six month old to the beach next week and I have baby sunblock, a hat and a baby tent with SPF 35 to set up, but how long should we stay at the beach I don't want to expose him to the sun too long. Any other suggestions of things I may need to bring to make the trip more enjoyable for everyone.
Do you think babies should wear hats when outside? I see so many people walking with their new babies with their head exposed to the sun, isn't it better to keep a hat on their head?

Sun screen and baby? My son will be 6 months on June 3rd. I'm taking him to the zoo May 30th. I'll have him covered and with a hat on. But is it ok to put some sunblock on his face? If so what kind?
How to handle babies and HOT summers? This summer is hot, at least for us. Not Africa hot, but hot just the same. It is about 30 degrees Celcuis for over a week now. I have a 3 1/2 week old baby. We have been going to the lake for the day alot( the only place to stay cool). I have been wetting the babies hat and socks and putting them on him (not freezing cold, but slightly cool). I have been putting him in the shade as much as possible and feeding him on demand (breastfed). I keep a blanket over him (not on him, but over his car seat and stroller) to keep the bugs and sun off as much as possilbe. Any other tips?

Bringing Baby Outside? Hi=) I have a baby girl whos a little over 2 and a half months old. Just wanted to get some feedback. Its about 18-19 degress celsius outside. Sunny, no wind. You think it would be okay If i spread a blanket on the grass and took her out into the backyard for about an half hour, if i put a little jacket on her and a sun hat? Just thought it would be nice for her to get a little fresh air since we're always inside. Thankss for answering my question=)
Baby Pool at 8 weeks? Would it be okay if I put my son in a baby pool with a shade next week ? I would let the water warm up in the sun first for an hour or two. And Of course I would hold him the entire time Also He would wear a sun hat and glasses and shorts. Is there any reason I cant do this?
Who dresses better? You or your baby? On a daily basis I'm wearing jeans ans a tee, my daughter is wearing a cute matching outfit with a hair ribbon or matching sun hat, cute shoes etc. Am I alone in this or do other new moms feel this way too? Just a fun question =)
How long can my 11 month old be in the sun? I bought him a baby pool and got his big hat, shades and sunscreen so he's ready. It's about 90 where I live so I'm wondering what is a safe amount of pool time at his age? Also were not going outside till 4. thanks
Places I can take my 5 month old baby? Any ideas? I live in Florida and I'm finding it difficult to do outdoor activities (beaches, parks for example) because of the extreme heat outside. My daughter just doesn't seem very happy in the high temperatures that we are hitting and will be hitting every day for a long time. I bring water and put a sun hat on her and a bit of sunscreen (which the doctor said was ok) but carrying and playing with her in these hot temperatures are just too draining (I'm also 2 months pregnant feeling nauseaus and tired throughou the day). What are some indoor things to do that will be ok with a baby? What have you mothers done with baby that was enjoyable and not too stressful? By the way she has a great temperament, doesn't cry unless hungry, is a very friendly happy baby that is easy to travel with.
While at the beach, how much sun should I limit my 7 month old to? I got the sunscreen, the hat and the stroller. My mom says no more than an hour on the beach. Any suggestions? Also, where can I buy sunglasses for a baby? All the store I've been too including Babies r Us have glasses best suited for children 2 and up. Thanks!
taking baby on holiday, what can i not forget..? obviously not the baby!! before some smart a**e says!! my daughter is 17 weeks, first holiday!! i searched the net, seen checklist, clothes, diapers, wipes, sun protection, hat, medication(capol, bongela, thermometer), etc i'm breastfeeding, do you think i still should bring a sippy cup or bottle, pump!!?? ( i read that on a site....??) what do you advise?? thanks!!!
Stressing over what we need for baby...some insight and suggestions please? This is our third child, but we don't really have anything from our previous two because we decided we were done having kids. Well, you know how it goes, after we got rid of everything, we started thinking about having another. So now I'm 18 weeks pregnant with this baby and trying to figure out all of the absolute necessities. We got so much stuff we never used or rarely used for our other two, and not a lot of room in our apartment to store things that the baby won't need in the first 6 months or so. Here's my list. Please make suggestions or add things that I forgot. Gear: Crib Car Seat-already have Monitor Stroller Baby bath-already have Crib bedding Crib mattress-already have Swing Other: bottles-not nursing, no judging please binkies receiving blankets 2-4 extra crib sheets diapers wipes diaper cream baby wash baby powder infant sun screen Clothes: Really not sure about clothes. I know babies grow fast, and I don't want to have a lot of clothes in 0-3 month because I know he/she'll be growing out of it in no time. So how does this sound? 0-3 10 sleepers 20 onesies 8-10 outfits socks hats 1 or 2 pair soft shoes 3-6 pretty much the same except maybe a few more outfits I know I have plenty of time to figure this stuff out, but when I get something in my head, it drives me crazy until I get it sorted out. Thanks in advance for all your answers and sorry it's so long. I don't know why it would seem like I'm re-using my old car seat. I actually went and bought a new one. I'm not an idiot. I'm not going to use an almost 5 year old car seat.
Is the sun after 6.00pm "safer" than the middle of the day? It is summer here in Australia & I am always really careful about minimising sun exposure for my 16 month old daughter so we avoid playing outside in the middle of the day (between 11am & 3pm) & if we go outside between 3pm & 6pm I put sunscreen & a hat on her however if we are outside after 6pm I rarely worry about sunscreen & a hat because I was told that late afternoon sun is good for her due to the vitamin D production in her skin. Anyway, today I was at the Cancer Council shop looking for some baby sungalsses for her & the woman told me that NO SUN EXPOSURE IS SAFE & I should NEVER allow her out in the sun without full sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sun protection clothing, sunglasses). So now I am confused & would like to know if anyone has the answer here or if anyone knows of any good websites I can look at that will tell me the answer!!!!! BERTSTA: You were SO close to getting BEST ANSWER...that is, until I read what you said about UV radiation from energy efficient globes! Technically, your assertion is true, however the research you are referring to has found that this is only an issue if you are working within CLOSE proximity to the globes for more than an hour at a time & it is not ALL of the energy efficient globes, just the funny shapes ones. The encapsulated ones (look more like an incandescant globe) have no such effects. The final information given by the research was that these globes CAN have the same effect as standing outside on a sunny day HOWEVRE, only if you are sitting 2cm (yes, that is TWO CENTIMETRES) from the globe for over an hour...who does that?????
Sun screen on babies.? So I know this is really stupid to have an argument about BUT, on facebook lots of people have been commenting on a picture of a baby in a pool with no hat or shirt on (this baby is about a month and a half), and the mothers defense that he had lots of sun screen on. From what I was told by a nurse, as well as another girl that was comment on the picture, you are not suppose to put sun screen on babies younger then 6 months because it will soak into their skins. Is this true or not? I do not enjoy being called a moron for something a nurse told me.
"Allergic to the sun"?! Quack doctor? I live in an area that has abundant poison oak. I get it really easily. This weekend I was out hiking with my kids, but because I KNOW I get poisoin oak so easily I didn't touch ANYTHING. Low and behold yesterday the rash shows up. It's on the back of my neck the worst, so badly swollen that it hurts to turn it, the rash burn and itches. It's also on my shoulders, back, chest, neck, chind, lips and my throat is sore. I coudln't sleep last night it hurt so badly and I cound't wear night clothes. It's the worst case of poison oak I've ever had in my life! I made an appointment to see the doctor today. The doctor says he doesn't think it's poison oak. The rash isn't in the "normal" place for poison oak and doesn't have the normal pattern (as in looks like I brushed against the plant). He thinks I have a photosensitivity. The doctor told me to cover myself throughly in clothes, big hats and a sun BLOCKER (not sunscreen), stay OUT of the sun. He said this could be a one time deal, just in pregnancy or for the rest of my life. He recccomended using lotion on the rash and some steroid cream for the inflammation. REALLY?! I'm allergic to the sun?! WTH?! (this is NOT my normal doc btw, I see him on thursday, but I"ve seen this doc before and usually he's pretty good, I"ve always liked him in the past) So here I am in the worst pain I"ve EVER had from a rash, I can't turn my neck the skin is so tight and inflammed, clothes are torture on my upper body, I can't sleep because that requires resting my neck on something, it's itchy and burns and I"M MISERABLE! I'm defenitely going to talk to my doctor on thursday. Anyone ever had this? Or have any advice in the meantime? PS I'm 16 wks pregnant with baby #5.
Did my husband overreact about our baby.? We were @ a party at my husbands mothers. His sister was playing with our baby in the other room. A few minutes passed by and we no longer heard them. I asked where they were and my husband went in to check. 10 minutes later he returned yelling that we had to leave. Apparently his sister had taken our baby around the corner w/out asking us w/ no hat or sun screeen on. (she is a pale pale baby) Now his whole family thinks he overreacted...but I don't. You don't take someone's kid w/out telling the parents ...right??? WHat do you think???
Is this a good deal for gently used baby stuff? Package 1: 6 lightweight receiving blankets; 6 heavy, fluffy crib blankets, 3 crib sheets, 1 crib bedskirt for $30 Package 2: This is packed full of toddler girl's stuff, about 30 pieces of clothing, plus some 2-piece sets, 5 pairs of shoes, rain boots, sun hat, swimsuit, swimsuit cover, doggie hooded towel, and 2 pairs of p.j's. Also for $30 And a used pack-n-play, basic, for $15 Just trying to determine if I should negotiate the price down or if this is really good. I'm out of practice. Thanks.
Would like some input on first time taking baby swimming? My daughter is 6 1/2 months old. I've been invited to go swimming at a friend's house this week. It's supposed to be in the 90s temperature-wise. I would love to take my daughter swimming because she loves being in water but is it going to be too hot for her? My friend said the water is perfect, not too hot or cold which I'm guessing is around 82 degrees or so because that's what her pool temperature usually is. My daughter will probably take a nap inside for part of the time but I'm just wondering if it will be okay to get her in the water for a little while. She has a sun hat and obviously I'll putting sunscreen on her. Just wanted some advice about how long she should be out there, if at all. Thanks!
I really need to know if i've got enough baby clothes? this is what I have so far (all NB size)... 1 x pair of velour overalls 2 x cardigans (cotton, NOT wool) 3 x pants 3 x booties (1 padded) 3 x scratch mittens 6 x caps (1 is a sun hat style) 6 x long sleeve tops/bodysuits 7 x sleepsuits (4 with feet, 2 without feet, 1 nightie) 10 x short sleeve tops/bodysuits ( 1 has shorts attatched) What else do I need before I start buying the next size up? it will be june so... winter, where I live it does not snow and in winter the temp is usually around 10 -12 C during the day and between 0 - 5 C at night, it just rains all day every day for months lol
Where can I get a swim suit for a 5 month old baby girl? My husband and I are going to take our daughter to the beach for the first time on August 29th. She will be 1 day shy of 5 months at that time. Just wondering where you other Mommies got swim suits for your kids. Where can I go to get a cute one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I would also like a matching sun hat. I went to target.com but it seems I have to buy everything online which I don't want because I'd like to make sure it will fit her before I buy it. Any ideas?
Some advise/opinions please, Is it safe to take a baby to the beach?? I take my 11 month old daughter to the beach all the time, I don't see that there is anything wrong with it. As long as I have the baby sunblock and hat and not exposing my daughter in the sun the whole time we are there I think it is great + she really enjoys the water. My sister in law won't take her son bcs her baby's doctor said that it is not safe for young babies to go to the beach. I didn't want to argue bcs that's her baby her choice. I really wanted the two cousins to play together though. But she didn't even take him to our family picnic either, she wouldn't take him out unless it is after 7pm when the sun is gone. But personaly I think many doctors exaggerate sometimes about many things. Would you take your son or daughter who are under 1 yr old to the beach? or am I wrong to do so?
Is this a good Get Before The Baby Comes list? I'm coming up with all I should buy, heres what I got so far: Carrier/Sling Bassinet (I was thinking of using mine from when I was a baby, I know my mom would give it to me, and it's in very good shape) Baby bath soup/lotion/shampoo/powder Bath tub Bottles&nipples (I'll breast feed but like just incase, so only two or three, like if I go out one night) Bouncy chair&Swing Changing Table Cloth Diapers (I'm using disposable, but like to put on my should when burping and such) Crib Diaper bag Diaper pail Baby wipes Diapers (like three packs) Hooded bath towels Car seat Stroller Thermometors (I think I want to get the ones you roll across the head) Lots of onesies 6 sleepers Lots if socks and booties 3 hats Lots of bibs 3 undershirts 3 light weight blankets 2 blankets soft washcloths Combs Baby nail clippers Pacifiers Nasal Aspirator Sun shades for car Breast pads V-shaped cushion Breast Pump Sterilizing equipment toys Coat/jacket 4 pants, 3 shirts Anything else I should get? Also, should I ask my mom for the guest room to turn it into the baby room (which is another room away from mine, my sisters is in the middle), or should I try to fix my room up to fit me and the baby, or should I ask my mom for the basement (which is finished, nothing is down there, my parents don't use it, it's just empty rooms and a bathroom, and a work out room, with a place that a small kitchen could be built, and it's walk out)? Oh! If I toke the basement then me and the baby would be there, it has about two rooms, an open area and a kind of like sun room. I don't know about a baby shower...My friends are mostly guys, the girl friend I had is dating the dad now, so I wouldn't really have anyone to invite besides my mom and cousins wife haha
do they make "baby sunglasses"? i ask this because the UV rays are harmful for a baby's eyes, and some times even with a hat on and with the strollers canopy, still the sun gets in my baby's eyes i want to protect her eyes from sun damage, but i have never seen baby sunglasses... please, don't insult my question, i know it may sound a little goofy, but i was just wondering... if they make such thing, and if they do, where can i get them? THANK YOU ALL!
9 Month old w/aniridia - does anyone know of a hat with see thru sun block netting to cover his face? I care for a 9 month old foster baby with aniridia, we know he has some vision. I have been told not to take him out in the sun because it will hurt him and could cause glaucoma. So I am looking for a hat that has a sun block netting to cover his face so we can go out side or some sun block netting that I can sew onto his hat. I do have sun glasses for him but he doesn't always leave them on. Or does anyone else have any other ideas? All suggestions are welcome I really want to get out of the house since we finally have a summer. Thank You, NLC
Baby got a Sunburn? My 3 month old went with me to a parade today. It was warm but not overly hot.. I had a broad brimmed hat on her, I kept her in the shade for the most part, and had her in a stroller with a shade cover, but it didnt help! Her face and nose got burned. under her eyes, on her forhead too. I was told at my last visit I couldnt put sun block on a baby under 6 months. My Ped told me to keep her out of direct sunlight and have her wear a hat, and just be cautious. I WAS and she still got a little burn. She was scratching at it, and wakes up crying now from sleep because of it. I have put some aloe juice on it but no creams... what else can I do? I used a cool rag and just placed it there but she will absolutely have nothing to do with that.
What is the best suncreen to protect from tanning? I want a suncreen that protects me from getting darker. Believe it or not yes I am one of the few that don't really care to about getting a tan. I recently did some research and tanning will increase age. So I don't want to ruin my skin complextion I'd rather keep the youth and keep my skin pale and all one color. I want to get ready for the summer and avoid those farmer tans that result in my arms and face are darker than my other skin areas. I want to be one color for once. I've tried to stay out of the sun and cover up and wear hats it does work but I want to learn how to surf and scuba dive this summer and hit the beach. But I need some good sunscreen protection. I have had bad luck with Banana boat for babies SPF 45 it gave me an allergic skin reaction. So if anyone knows of a great brand please let me know and much thanks.
how long can 6 month old be in sun with 50 sunblock? We are taking our little one to hawaii and we are obviously going to use water babies sunblock 50 when we go to the pool as well as hats, bathing suits etc...but I still wondered what the maximum exposure time would be. 30 min? 2 hours? How long can they actually be in the sun/pool with the sunblock on before getting over heated or even worse burned? I want to be careful but I tend to be too careful. I'd like to enjoy our time and not worry every second that he's getting too much sun so what's an appropriate amount of time in the sun?
Babysitting Issues, what should I have done? I am a Child Care Provider that had an emergency on Monday. My 11 year old daughter was stung by a bee and had a major allergic reaction. Her face swelled up, her tongue was red and swollen. She was having trouble breathing. I called her doctor who told me to call 911. I did and the ambulance came. In this process, I was helping her to get dressed. This happened early in the morning. I later found out that a wasp had somehow gotten through her bedroom screen during the night. I care for this 6 month old little boy. In all of the commotion of the EMS workers asking me questions, putting in an IV, taking heart readings, which were very high, watching my husband and other children looking on in fear and horror, I made the decision to rush to the hospital with my little one. My oldest daughter is 18 and a certified babysitter. My husband was also home with everyone. I felt that taking the baby to the hospital would be a bad choice, since I did not know what to expect once we arrived. He was in great care and I had planned on contacting both parents as soon as I got to the hospital. I care for a 18 month old as well. I called the 18 month old's mother. Then when I was about to call the 6 month old's mother, my daughter called through to let me know that the mother was taking a half day and coming to pick up the baby. My husband filled her in on the emergency and she seemed fine. Today, I got an email in which this mother questioned if I was ever going to call her or tell her that the baby was not in my care all day. She was quite upset that I did not take her son with me. She felt that since she was paying me for my services, that he should have been my first priority. How do I calm her concerns without being rude? There have been other issues with this mother, but I'd rather not prejudice answers to this situation. I am not liking the questioning of my honesty. I really don't know if I should continue working with this mother. She has major control issues like sending a list of all clothing the baby is wearing, what is in the baby bag, and how many bottles the baby has just to make sure all comes home with the baby every night. This stemmed in response to me somehow misplacing a "froggie sun hat" of the baby. I have searched my house over for 2 months and cannot find this hat. I have searched online for a replacement, but cannot find this hat. I feel awful about the hat. She brings it up every other day. @ Sugar, I understand that the mom paid for that hat, but I have REALLY looked in every corner of my house. I am not for sure if the hat was lost here. Do you have children? If your child was having trouble breathing, 911 was called and the baby kept safe, calling parents would be a second thought, not first. I was in the process of calling the mom when she called my house to say she was coming home early because she was having a bad day at work. She was told then that there was an emergency. She was informed all in the matter of 10 minutes of 911 being called. I really am not sure if I messed up or should have to apologize. I was in the process of calling, but she called first. My DAUGHTER was having trouble breathing, swollen, could not see! Her heart was racing. That showed on the heart monitor of the EMS workers. In the160's! Had to call 911! Should I put the welfare of this baby first before a true emergency of my own child for $380 a month? Especially when this child was in the care of a trained, certified person and another adult until parents could be notified? @dizzy, what do you mean, be careful with this child? I don't know but my gut says you might be right. I have offered to purchase another hat, but she says she wants his hat, not another. I think most people reading this are missing the fact that I actually did call her. I called her all within 10 minutes of me calling 911. Sorry! I forgot to add that I did administer Benedril, as the doctor told me to do, but she also told me to call 911 because of the swollen tongue, problem breathing and swollen face. My daughter actually went into shock and was given shots. She is okay now, home, and taking steroids. Thanks for all of the concern, guys. It is appreciated.
Can you bring a 6 week old outside for the afternoon/evening on a hot sunny day? My baby is 6 weeks old and we are going to an outdoor reunion this afternoon at 4:00. I'm a little worried because he is so young and it is sunny and hot today (30 Celcius). Is he to young to be outside with just a hat for shade and sun protection? I could keep him in his carseat in the stroller, but it gets so hot.
Rules to follow when taking my 11 month old out on hot sunny days? I know things like make sure he has a hat on, and baby sunscreen, and a drink, but what are some other things I should know? My son was born last May so he was pretty much kept out of the sun and kept as cool as possible, but this year I'll be taking him out to parks and stuff, so all of your suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

Where can I find one piece jumpers like this? I'm looking for a few for my 9 month old daughter. I found this one - http://www.maternalyouth.com/pd-baby-girl-jumper-and-matching-sun-hat.cfm - but it's courderoy and I'm looking for something soft like cotton or any soft cloth-like material, no jeans or anything like that. I found one at Cracker Barrel, oddly, that was the perfect material , but it was purple and I am not a fan of purple. I also saw one at Babies R Us last night but it was a really stiff material (almost like tarp lol) that didn't seem like it would be too comfortable. I'm looking for the sleevless kind, like in the picture, the kind I can put any onesie or shirt underneath it. Anyone know anywhere?
Can Anyone recommend a good Sun Block Spray for Babies Heads?? (UK Please)? I am taking my one year old on holiday and he will not keep a hat on, so I need a good sun block spray for his head. I have had a look at Boots and there doesn't seem to be anything specifically for heads. HELP !! I have reported the sicko that made disgusting comments about doing unspeakable things to my baby. Please can anyone reading his comment, report abuse..Lets try and get this loser taken off !
What is your favorite hat to be worn by a child? My baby daughter loves ducks. She has a duck sun visor. She wears it with her afro (which is humongous) and she looks like a hippie trucker duck girl. Cute.
can saltwater effect a baby's skin? i recently went to the beach with my 5mth and for the entire time we where in the water she screamed. i did change her and feed her, so it wasn't for those reasons. she had sunscreen on and a hat to keep the sun off her. she normally loves the water, and baths are not a problem. what can i do to make the next time better, we live on an island near the ocean.
Any tips for taking my 13 month old to the beach? We're taking our son to the beach for a few days, and I'm interested in what other parents found helpful when you had babies on the beach. I have sunscreen, a swimsuit and swim shirt, swim diapers, hats, a blanket, towels, some sand toys and we're renting an umbrella. We're staying at an ocean front hotel, so we'll be right near our room to change him and take breaks from the sun. Does it sound like I've covered my bases? Any tips/tricks you found helpful?
2 month old - sun allergy? or sensitive skin? I had my two month old outside without a hat on for about 5 minutes (maybe less!) two days ago. Later that night I noticed she had what looked like a rash all over the top of her head. It looked very mottled. Yesterday it was gone. So yesterday we all went down to the park. I took the baby in the stroller. She wore a hat and she was covered up all the way to her eyes. Again, there was about 5 minutes when I was pushing the stroller towards the sun. I tried to cover her face but she kicked off the blanket. When we got home I would have sworn she was extremely sunburned in a rectangular strip across her eyes where she wasn't quite covered! But today it's gone again... I'm confused. Could this be a slight allergy to the sun? Or maybe grass pollen? Or could she just have very sensitive skin? She's our fourth baby and none of the other kids were ever sensitive or prone to rahses. I can't really use much sunscreen on her yet, especially not around the eyes!
Has anyone had a winter baby and had any issues once summer comes? It gets really cold here, sometimes -40C in the winter. My baby was born right at the coldest time, we just went out to the warmed up car and only when we had to. It just started to warm up here a little so I have been taking my five month old for walks and such. I do all the necessary things, put on a hat on her, keep out of the sun as much as possible but it has been a slow processes getting her outside. The first time she screamed. We now can spend a little time out. I want to be able to take her camping and do even more outdoor activities. Will she get use to being outside? Will it be hard on her to adjust to the heat? It gets up to 30C in the summer but not for long-lol. Any advice, stories or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thinking about taking baby to the beach soon. Any tips? I read a similar question, however my daughter is much older than the question I read. She's 7 months old, and there are days OTHER than the most sunny and hot day to go to the beach. So I would go on one of those days which would deminish the sun and heat factor a little. I have sunglasses for her, hats (baseball cap style). I would get sun screen, and I have a beach umbrella I bought before I knew I was pregnant. (never had a chance to use it yet tho, lol) We probably wouldn't stay longer than 1-3 hrs. And I'd change her before we went, and then when we leave. Plus I could change her in the bathroom. My point is, does all that sound good? Am I overlooking anything? And does anyone have tips from experience to share? Thanks!
how can you tell if a baby is dehydrated? I went to the water park yesterday with a friend her son, her sons friend my son, and my 7 month old baby girl, of course i put sunscreen on her she had a hat on and we stayed out of the sun, 9 we sat in the shade, she loved the water park and had a blast. she seemed to fine all day yesterday and last night, she drank lots Including some water but mostly her formula!!!! however this morning when i changed her bum ( she sleeps through the night now) is was dry, last night before my fiance brought her to bed at midnight he changed her bum and said it was soaked ( it was changed an hour earlier) but she slept 9 hours without peeing! to me that's a cause for concern. she is playing like normal today, isn't fussy and is happy like normal, she isn't taking in any more fluids then she normally does. should i see if i can get her to drink more? or is it normal seeing how she filled her diaper just before bed in an hour? She doesn't have a paediatrician ( we don't really have those here only if you really need one otherwise you see a normal or walk in dr.) and our family dr is gone for a week. I do think she is okay just wondering? Thanks everyone, In less then an hour agian she just filled her diaper...i dont know why she didnt last night but i will keep an eye on her Just in case!
When can i take my 2 month old into the pool? all Dr's have a different opinion and I have looked in all 3 of my baby books and found nothing. When is it safe to take into the pool? And to use sun screen or should i just keep him in a onesie and a big hat?
