How old does a baby have to be to be in the sun?
I want to take my baby who is 3 weeks old next week to an outing at a park. If I keep her in the shade do you think it is ok? How old should she be to be in the sun with sunscreen, hat, and light clothing that will cover her skin?

- she is too young for sunscreen, but it is perfectly fine to have her out-just make sure that her skin is covered by clothing and a hat, try to keep her under the visor of her stroller.
- You can take them out anytime, even just after birth, but keep a hat on, and maybe even a little sunscreen, ( try just a small area of the skin first, to make sure your baby isn't going to have a reaction to it) Depending on how hot it is, even fully sheilded with hat or anything else, make sure it's not so hot (the air) that baby gets sun stroke. Baby's dont sweat like adults so can become overheated much faster than adults. So take your baby out, the fresh air will knock him out (which is nice to have them sleeping) just be observant to how she is feeling.
- Sunscreen (a high SPF, baby's skin is sensitive... Try an Aveeno brand) and light clothing plus a hat should be fine, especially if you keep her in the shade. Just make sure that if it gets very hot you get her indoors if you can, and same goes for if it gets cold. Try to bring a blanket in the diaper bag just in case =)
